The Use of Music and Movement Therapy to Modify Behaviour of Children with Autism
A recent study has found that…
“Weekly Music Therapy sessions can have a positive effect on behaviour in children with autism”.
– See, C. M. The Use of Music and Movement Therapy to Modify Behaviour of Children with Autism (2012). Pertanika J. Soc. Sci. & Hum., 20 (4): 1103 – 1116.
This is a very exciting piece of research as it provides that extra bit of encouragement to families, carers and music therapists that music therapy makes a difference and plays an important role.
The study concluded that music therapy had a positive effect on the children’s behaviour, particularly inattentive behaviours.
